1 Peter 1:6

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice,
though now for a season, if need be,
ye are in heaviness
through manifold temptations:
There are many forms of addiction.
As there are many forms of treatment.
Sometimes, the treatment becomes another addiction.
In the desire to be well, man tries "self-medication".
He becomes addicted, and programmed, for self-help.
Man thinks the world offers the solution.
But the world can only offer panaceas.
A pill for this, a pill for that.
A book for this, a book for that.
A seminar for this, a seminar for that.
A strategy for this, a strategy for that.
A therapy for this, a therapy for that.
A guru for this, a guru for that.
Does it work?
Does it last?
Does it take away your pain?
Or are you back where you came from?
Do you hunger for more help?
Probably because a "piece" is missing?
Your soul still not filled?
You remain empty?
Still addicted, unhappy, depressed?
Still restless, discontented, ill?
Even suicidal?
But how can we be helped, when the world is a fallen world?
Won't we have fallen solutions, too?
Won't we have fallen gurus, too?
Won't the wounding continue?
The problem stems from ignorance.
Many feed us foolish ideas.
And we buy into it.
Problems stem from pride, too.
We think we've got the power.
How asleep we are.
People say, "God helps those who help themselves".
Now, we need to rethink that statement.
There are many variables.
People left out the BIGGEST piece:
Romans 8:26-27

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities:
for we know not what we should pray for
as we ought:
but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us
with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth
what is the mind of the Spirit,
because he maketh intercession for the saints
according to the will of God.
We need SPIRIT.
The world doesn't want to acknowledge SPIRIT.
JESUS explains why:
John 14:17
King James Version
17 Even the Spirit of truth;
whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him:
but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you,
and shall be in you.
To help ourselves, we need the SPIRIT of GOD.
Only SPIRIT can give us the guidance.
Only He can teach us about JESUS.
But why do we need JESUS?
In JESUS is peace, joy, and clarity.
In JESUS is grace, truth, and salvation.
In JESUS is love, light, and life.
The LORD knows our pain.
GOD took on the form of man, through JESUS.
So He may live among us, and heal us.
And teach us how to live.
Through Scripture.
JESUS is not a distant GOD.
He lives in believers.
He is our ONLY salve for pain.
He is our ONLY solution for problems.
He is our ONLY Source for peace.
He is our ONLY Savior from perversions.
Without Him, we're lame.
John 15:5

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches:
He that abideth in me, and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit:
for without me ye can do nothing.

JESUS tells us Himself:
Matthew 11:27

The LORD of COMPASSION knows our brokenness.
He knows the weariness of our hearts, minds, spirits, and bodies.
Matthew 11:28-30

all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;
for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
By ourselves, we won't know what to pray for.
By ourselves, we won't know what really ails us.
By ourselves, we won't know the source of all pain.
By ourselves, we won't know perfect healing.
We will always have "plaster aid" mentality.
We cure for a time.
But the pain remains.
We need to go to the root cause.
We need spiritual discernment:
1 Corinthians 2:14

the things of the Spirit of God:
for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned.
We need to be born again, that we may receive GOD's SPIRIT:
John 3:5-8

Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,
he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh;
and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

and thou hearest the sound thereof,
but canst not tell whence it cometh,

so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
When you have SPIRIT, you have wisdom:

Scripture tells us all we need to know.
Seek GOD first.
He knows your heart.
He knows your pain.
Precisely why He sent His Son, JESUS.
John 3:16-17

that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world
to condemn the world;
but that the world through him
might be saved.
There is no peace for unbelievers.
They will be subject to the whims and ways of the world.
The god of this world has caused much suffering.
JESUS takes you out of that world.
Colossians 3:1-2

3 If ye then be risen with Christ,
seek those things which are above,
where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above,
not on things on the earth.
TRUE healing can only come from JESUS.
He is the help, that transcends ALL help.
Call upon JESUS now.
From the humility of your heart, call upon the only TRUE physician.
